Today that all changed. Today I got you. ”. To truly understand a story; you need to start from the beginning, but to start from the beginning; you have to go back, further than just you. After all, our stories don’t start with us, do they? Our stories start with the person before us, and the person before them. We are created from the stories of those people – from their mistakes, from their achievements, from their love and their hate.
No one’s story is ever truly their own. I tried to create my own story, my own path, and my own actions. I’ve seen things people only see in their worst nightmares, but I never let it beat me down. I never let it become who I was.
I picked myself up, and I kept going. Everything was what it was. There was no point analyzing what it could be. Could be’s didn’t matter.
Until Maddox came into the picture. He saved my life. He changed my world; giving me the second chance some of us only dream about. There was only one thing missing in my second chance, and she was the reason I fought so hard to survive. My sister who is supposed to be dead, well, at least, that’s what I thought. That’s what he told me. Now is where my story changes, but to understand this story, you have to start at the beginning…where it all began…and before.
This story is the second book in a series. You can get the first book on all major retailers. (Precarious – Jokers’ Wrath MC Book 1). This contains no cliffhanger and has a HEA. 18+.
Christina’s Review – 4 Stars. Santana is a young, dark haired beauty that is rescued from less than perfect circumstances by Maddox, president of the Joker’s Wrath MC. He is a bit older than her, and plays a sort of fatherly role to her, almost claiming her as his own without complicating the relationship with sex.
Problem is, Santana doesn’t appreciate Maddox’s meddling in her personal life by scaring away all potential suitors. Maddox is Santana’s savior, however he harbors a very big secret that could make or break any future relationship they might have. Santana is haunted by her past as an addict, a situation that led to the loss of her younger sister after their parents death. Maddox is operating in Santana’s best interest, however will she see it that way? Can she ever trust him again if he withheld a secret so big for five years.
There are a couple of different story arcs so at times it seems that the book gets off track just a bit in places. But as a whole, the book is cohesive and the inclusion of Maddox and Santana’s backstory, along with the history of Santana’s sister, really gives you a glimpse into the pain that Santana has suffered through her young life, and how it affects her in the here and now. My biggest issue with this volume is that Santana is the antithesis of Ash in the first book. Santana seems far more needy and eventually it started to grate on my nerves. Like most series books I appreciated the appearance of the main characters of the previous book, Krypt and Maddox. The storyline kept me interested and it is a relatively quick and easy read. I enjoyed the book, especially since it seems I’m on an MC kick at the moment.
The book is well written and with the exception of Santana, I liked the characters. MC books are always a little over the top alpha wise, and this one is no exception, but I appreciated the grittiness of the book. While this is the second book in the series, it can be read as a standalone. There is no cliffhanger and there is an HEA. I look forward to the next in the series.
Jokers’ Wrath MC. Precarious (Jokers Wrath MC, #1).
